The building inspector is responsible for overseeing the implementation and inspection of projects within the state building code requirements as adopted by the City of Morris. This includes building permit applications, reviewing plans and blueprints, inspecting work sites and various aspects of construction as per the building code. The building inspector also serves as the zoning administrator and assists the city manager with responsibilities to work with the Morris planning commission. Requests for variances, conditional use permits and recommendations for changes to the city zoning codes are part of the department responsibilities.
