Residents in Morris are required to clear snow from their sidewalks within 48 hours after the end of the snowfall. The Director of Public Works is responsible for checking sidewalks. However, it is important to note that the public works department is also responsible for clearing snow from city streets and city property. The process for identifying properties that have not been cleared will begin once the city crews are done with their responsibilities. A list will be made of properties that are not cleared. The list will be provided to a vendor the city has chosen to clear the sidewalks. The cost of clearing the sidewalk, an administrative fee and a fine will be billed to the property owner. Any unpaid bills will be assessed to the property owner and collected through the county tax system.
